Commitment to achieving Net Zero

RoamingExpert Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. As a company certified under ISO 14001, we adhere to rigorous environmental management standards, ensuring that our practices minimise our environmental impact and continually improve our sustainability performance. Our certification underscores our dedication to environmental stewardship and our proactive approach to managing and reducing our carbon footprint.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

RoamingExpert is committed to transparency and accountability in our sustainability efforts. As part of our journey towards achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, we have conducted a thorough assessment of our baseline emissions. This report outlines the results of our first reporting period, which we will use as our baseline for measuring future reductions.

Detailed Emissions Assessment

To establish our baseline emission footprint, we meticulously gathered data from all relevant operations and activities. This comprehensive assessment covered the following areas:

  • Energy Consumption: We analysed our energy use across all facilities, including office buildings, data centres, and other operational sites. This included both electricity and heating fuel consumption.
  • Transportation: We assessed emissions from all forms of transportation used by the company, including business travel (flights, trains, company vehicles) and employee commuting patterns.
  • Supply Chain: We evaluated emissions from our supply chain, considering the production, transportation, and disposal of products and materials used in our operations.
  • Waste Management: We reviewed our waste generation and disposal methods, including recycling, composting, and landfill usage, to account for emissions from waste management practices.

Methodology

We adhered to internationally recognised standards and protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our emissions data. Our methodology included:

  • Greenhouse Gas Protocol: We followed the guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas accounting standard.
  • Scopes of Emissions: We categorised our emissions into Scope 1 (direct emissions from owned or controlled sources), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from the generation

of purchased electricity), and Scope 3 (all other indirect emissions that occur in our value chain).

  • Data Collection and Analysis: We implemented robust data collection processes, utilising both primary data from direct measurements and secondary data from estimations and industry averages where necessary.
Baseline Year: January 2022 – December 2022
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

Emissions data had not been published in prior years therefore we selected 22/23 as our base year.

The methodology for measuring our carbon footprint is in line with the Greenhouse Gas protocol and the BEIS Environmental Reporting Guidelines. The calculations were completed on the

Carbon footprint calculator using the UK Government emissions factors

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress toward achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 400 tCO2e by 2029. This is a reduction of 85.05%

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the January 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equates to 2556.13 tCO2e, a 37.45% reduction against the 2022 – 2023 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract

  • Continue to support and encourage hybrid working. Encourage the continued use of virtual meeting platforms.
  • Regular information on reducing environmental impacts, carbon reduction and pertinent recent environmental events could be shared with RoamingExpert employees.
  • Continue to partner with suppliers who are on the net zero journey with us.
  • Accreditation of ISO 14001.
  • Increase of Remote interrogation of the system reducing physical engineer site visits.
  • Reduction in the total provision of hardware as business and industry consolidate individual stand-alone hardware (such as proprietary handsets, servers and circuits boards) into preexisting devices such as Laptops Server Farms and Cloud computing)
  • Repurposing existing hardware rather than replacing it with new to reduce purchased goods and services
  • ensure we have power management policies in place for hardware such as laptops / PC / printers etc
  • Reduce Waste and Recycle

In the future, we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • 100% renewable electricity
  • Increased engagement with our supply chain to identify areas where we can reduce carbon impact along the whole chain
  • Continue the significant reduction in the use of paper products specifically where the resulting waste cannot be recycled.
  • regularly review and update working arrangements in line with best practices and latest technology developments
